Everything is just so descriptive that there is no way the reader cannot visualize everything being read. There are some excellent twists in the plot and fab new characters, especially Vesper and Nigel and the relationships between Miranda and Zachary and Quincie and Kieren are as sweet as ever. This seems like the equivalent of the belief that, no matter what you’ve done previously, if you’re killed after confessing your sins, you get heaven.
Like Miranda being located at the Penultimate the weigh station for ascended souls located just outside heaven. I so enjoyed the journey Sm “Because Michael is just cool that way. This book managed it until the very last chapter. Diabolical changed my perspective on her. It kind of blew me away. For those who are interested, this is very similar to a vision of the afterlife I wrote about in a short story.
Views Read Edit View history. The return of Miranda was a nice touch as the characters from the previous books are finally pitted together for a wonderful finish. I have read all 4 books in the Tantalize series, but this is my first review. Their actions proved to Zach that neophyte vampires can be saved and he takes that as his mission in order to regain his full heavenly status.
The tfourth book wasn’t great as the first ones and the ending sucked. She manages to juggle humor along with big themes in a way that that is both accessible and thought-provoking.
And each time she comes out cynrhia a new book, it never fails to wow me.
Oct peitich, Sallysmurf rated it really liked it. Where this plot stagnates is in the fact that both characters have all cynnthia time in the world to meet up.
I wasn’t disappointed in the least. It’s difficult to write a book with religious elements without it being overly religious and offending someone.
Books by Cynthia Leitich Smith. That said, over the next few years, I gained a deeper appreciation of what Kieren was doing during that period and revisited his perspective for the graphic novel adaptation.
I would recommend this novel to anyone interested in Heaven versus Hell battles, supernatural creatures, and gothic academies. Vesper holds up her metal fingernail file. He and Kieran, Quincie’s werewolf boyfriend, trick their way into the school.

Diabolical like it’s predecessors are more interesting and better written than a lot of it’s more popular shelve mates. Zach and Miranda use them excessively. As I became accustomed to the switching, it was easier to follow. Some don’t stick around the whole time, insert knife hacking squeaks from Psycho leitihc some have ties to people that will baffle you. I just want to state for the record that what happened to Kieren and Zachary at the end was completely absurd.
