I could only take it in small doses. What a horrifying time in history. What made the book interesting enough to finish was the added history, information, references, and photographs that was added by historians, and people who knew Rutka or researched her life and those of sl Polish Jews. A moving read on a young life cut short due to the Holocaust. While Anne had to stay hidden from the Nazi’s, Rutka had to interact with them first hand, and her diary tells of some incredibly disturbing incidents as her family is forced to move to a ghetto and go through “selections” where you don’t know if you will end up going home or being sent to a concentration camp.
That is a difficult time in anyone’s life. I’ve been trying to formulate this review in my head since finishing this thought provoking and extremely poignant book. With glee, she recounts the books she has just read, along cyaderno the possiblity that she and her friends will finally gutka emigrating to Eretz Israel, Palestine. It’s hard not to compare this to The Diary of Anne Frank, and the problem in doing cuaxerno is that Anne’s journal gives so much more detail and insight into the horrors of the time.

The majority of pages are undamaged with minimal creasing or tearing, minimal pencil underlining of text, no highlighting of text, no writing in margins.
